Who Killed the Food Critic? Biology Students Solve the Mystery!
This week, our biology students in Ms. DeMarco's Class put on their detective hats and stepped into the role of forensic scientists to solve a thrilling mystery—who killed the food critic? Through an engaging hands-on lab, students analyzed evidence to crack the case!
The scenario: A notorious food critic dined at three different restaurants before mysteriously falling ill. Each chef prepared a unique dish, and students had to determine which macromolecules—carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, or nucleic acids—were present in the suspect meals. Using chemical tests, they carefully examined food samples and matched their results to the evidence left behind at the crime scene.
With beakers bubbling and test strips changing colors, excitement filled the classroom as students pieced together clues. Through critical thinking and scientific reasoning, they identified the guilty chef responsible for the unfortunate fate of the food critic.
This interactive lab reinforced the importance of macromolecules in biology while making learning fun and engaging. Great job to all our student detectives!
